Spontaneous Control

Be inspiredly the variety of forces that influence the transformation of found and manufactured glass inside the kiln. Students study the effects of temperature, gravity, tension, inflation and incompatibility. We discuss the notion of spontaneous control while learning slumping, fusing and kiln casting techniques. The course includes some access to hot glass for making inclusions, stringers, bubbles and small hot cast components to be manipulated in the kiln. Various cold working processes are used to refine experiments into resolved artworks.
