Haptic and responsive glass
My foundation in personal expression, visual arts, material and structure is from growing up in India, where a rich influx of minute, layered stimulations negotiate continually with all of one’s senses. As a result, I struggle to fully understand insular, stoic and unchanging entities that appeal primarily to the eyes.
I enjoy my process most deeply when my glass does UN-GLASS-LIKE things by inviting touch. Responsive entities – toys, tools, devices and installations, are incomplete without human presence; unfulfilled without human participation. To this end, *I embed electronics in glass to activate with a living human body’s electric charge, *I make glass flexible like a fabric that drapes around the body, * I invite people to flamework glass together in creating objects not pre-determined.
