NutriGlass
Why should the lifespan of our objects exceed our own? What if there were a glass medium that is sculpt-able across various craft techniques / traditions AND composed of minerals that plants and organisms need to grow? As the object’s relevance wanes, the life form grows. The object biodegrades once its minerals are transferred to the thriving plants…. NutriGlass could advance human knowledge, meet our needs and return planet resources back safely to its land.
My research addresses the material mining and non-biodegradability conundrum of contemporary studio glassmaking. I propose to * develop NutriGlass, a new glass, and * host workshops that spark public imagination in the new medium.
